HISTORY OF THE OFFICE
Date the office was established

The office was established by the law of 6 mars 2000 and the Defender has been named by the President of French Republic in may 2000.

Initiator of the Ombudsman office After a parlementary inquiry asked by the President of the Parliament, Laurent Fabius, who is now a member of the Government (Minister of Economy), the French Parliament initiated and voted an Ombudsman office.
AIMS AND CURRENT ACTIVITIES
Mission of the Office
The Defender receives the individual complaints of children themselves or of parents of children whose rights have not been respected ;
The Defender has to make to the Parliament law proposals for the children rights to be best respected in France
The Defender has to promote the children rights by all suitable information means

- Internet and other computer technology
- Posters distributed in schools
