The National Council for Children (DK): Examples of work directly with children. The legislation establishing The National Council for Children states that the Council shall include childrens points of view in its work. At the moment the Council use 3 models for including childrens viewpoints in its work. Panel of children. The Council has established a panel of children in the 5th grade (11-12 years old). In the panel is a representative section of all 5th grade homeclasses in Denmark. For a period of two years this panel will provide the Council with their opinions on different matters. The Council asks the children of their opinion by using a questionnaire, which they fill out in the classroom. Examples of issues for this co-operation with children is bullying in school and wishes and suggestions for childrens participation in the processes of decisionmaking in school. The results of the questionnaires are communicated back to the children, to the media and to relevant decisionmakers and included in the work of the Council. "The children-debate" on the homepage. In March 1999 the Council will start a place for debate for children on the Councils homepage. The Council will ask children to debate different issues ex bullying in school and give suggestions for solutions. The Council will follow the childrens debate closely and include it in its work. The telefon-taperecorder "give your opinion". In1995 the Council established a telefon-taperecorder. Here can children call and give their opinions and suggestions on all kind of issues of their own choice. The Council communicates some of the contributions on text-TV on a national channel.
